Venetian Isles

Venetian Isles

Live the Florida dream on the upscale waterfront community of Venetian Isles in St. Petersburg. Located on manmade islands crisscrossed with deep-water canals, this neighborhood is popular with all age groups, and especially with boating enthusiasts. Most individuals and families who live here have a sailboat or a powerboat. With many homes on canals leading out to the bay, or with direct open bay access – this neighborhood has some of the best values for waterfront real estate you’ll find in Florida.

George R. Davis began the development of the Venetian isles in the 1950s. A time in which he directed eight major development projects along the Florida Suncoast. In 1958, Venetian Isles was billed as the area's largest and most costly waterfront projects. In 1959, Florida Leroy Collins signed the submerged land rights to Venetian Isles Development Corporation for $34,412.50. Unfortunately, the filling of these submerged lands, and the building of seawalls became too costly, no homes were built on Venetian Isles until 1968. In the 1970s, Sibley Homes took over development of Venetian Isles. The company formed the community's homeowners’ association, and put it in charge of maintaining and enforcing deed restrictions. Venetian Isles is a deed restricted community, and all homes meet certain architectural standards. All homes in this community were built by Sibley Homes, Tessier Homes, and Rutenburg Homes and are concrete block construction with tile roofs. Homes have minimum-sized living areas and are on maximum-sized lots. The first properties in Venetian Isles were sold between 1967 and 1975, and included a dock and fully landscaped yard. Several these first homes have been remodeled or extensively rebuilt in Mediterranean style architecture. Venetian Isles is a boating community, so join your neighbors out on the sea.
The Venetian Isles Homeowners Association hosts many social opportunities for the community, including a garden club, a bunco "card" club, a yearly Oktoberfest and the Dolphin Cruising/Sailing Club. If you are looking for the great place to set down some roots in style, you’d be hard pressed to outdo the luxurious lifestyle found inside the Venetian Isles.
